So what is Aquaponics?
At it's core, Aquaponics is actually two different systems, an Aquaculture system for fish production and a Growing system for plant production. In practice, Aquaponics is a complex and interconnected Ecosystem of Fish, Plants, Bacteria, and Humans. In the short video below our Engineer, Conor, shows how the water moves through our Aqueduct System.
This movement of water is what drives Aquaponics. The waste produced by the fish is processed into usable nitrate from Ammonia by the bacteria in the media bed, and the plants uptake the nitrates. Once the water recycles back to the fish, it's roughly as clean as it was when it left.
